When I decided to attend Hawaii Pacific University, my plan was to become an English teacher. I had always had my heart set on teaching third grade. I had previously worked at the YMCA in the before and after school program while I attended community college. I worked with middle school children, and I loved it. Prior to this, I had been contemplating studying international business and Japanese. However, these kids impacted my life. As a result, I decided to pursue a career in education. After finishing community college, I traveled to Japan. I had the opportunity to work at a language school there.
