Statement Of Purpose To Pursue A Nursing Degree

My mum is a nurse in Gynaecology so I understand that the job is extremely challenging and every day is different however I find that nursing is such a remarkably rewarding job as I would be helping others who are vulnerable and have ill health. This is what first sparked my interest and ever since I understood what nursing actually entailed, I have wanted to pursue a career in adult nursing. I think I would make a great nurse because I am a very empathetic person and also exceptionally friendly which I think is extremely important in nursing so that you can create good relationships with patients.

I am currently studying Access to Nursing at Dundee and Angus College which is a course that allows me to gain more qualifications which are suitable for university. In this course I study Health and Wellbeing, Psychology, Sociology, Care Values & Principles, Communications, Literature, Human Anatomy, Physiology, ICT, First Aid, Health and Safety in Care Settings and also Numeracy. My current favourite subject would be psychology as I find it fascinating learning about how the human brain works as well as all the different theories which explain our

I then progressed onto studying English and Spanish at higher level which I also passed. By passing these two subjects at higher level, it shows that I have the ability to do well at university. Also at school I gained my Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award which involved a group of 6, including myself travelling to the Cairngorms where we camped for 1 night and walked for 2 days. This experience allowed me to gain many skills such as problem solving, time management, communication skills and the ability to use my own initiative from time to time. I believe these are great skills to have when you are a nurse because you often have to use each of these skills to provide the best care possible for
