Statement Of Purpose To Become A Certified Nursing Assistant

The famous words that every kid dreads, "Get a job," became a reality to me the summer before my senior year of high school. I was tired of having an empty wallet when I wanted to go out with friends and I did not want to ask my parents to cover my “wants” forever, but who really wants to go to work? When I received my Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license during my junior year, I thought that it would merely represent an opportunity to get a good paying job for someone my age. My first day on the job I realized that this was going to be so much more than just a paycheck. CNAs have one of the most physically, emotionally, and mentally challenging jobs, but it is also rewarding in ways I couldn't even imagine. Just like every other teenager, I was extremely selfish and wanted to sleep in on the weekends. Work weekends require me to get up at 5:30 am for an eight hour shift. When I stepped into Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community on my first day, I knew this experience …show more content…
After every long and exhausting shift I would say how much I would hate for this to be my career for life. I was motivated every day at school to give it my all so that I do not have to continue being a CNA day in and day out. I want better for myself, and my future family. I will turn what could be a good life for my future self, into what will be a great life. Becoming a RN will give my endless amounts of opportunity. With only being a CNA, my work routine would be the similar day in and day out. Becoming a RN I will have an immense amount of opportunities to work in different fields of nursing. If I were to get tired of one area, I could switch over to Labor and delivery, oncology, operating room nurse, or even home health. Just being a CNA, I would not be able to do any of that.
