Should Officials Be Allowed To Have Phones Away In School?

There have been a lot of questions lately about whether or not officials should be allowed to search through phones and other personal devices. Some may say that they should be able to for safety reasons. Officials should not be allowed to partake in the activity of invading a person’s privacy by searching through their phone or other device.

Students and suspects, alike, should be allowed to keep their phones away from school officials and police officers. For example, if a student has done something unsupported by the school on social media, the school should leave it alone. It is a major invasion of student privacy and violation of the first amendment. It is not a teacher’s duty to punish a child for their activities outside of school,
