On April 22, 1999 Two teens went on a killing spree at Columbine High school in Littleton, Colorado, Killing thirteen people and wounding more than 20 before turning the gun on themselves. One student while hiding for his life calls 911 and describes the location of the school and what the murders looked liked. If it weren’t for him innumerable more could have died. In multiple schools to a few teachers having a phone out is a distraction and disrespectful. In several schools, there are consequences of having your phone out. But what If I shooting happens again? It can happen, history can repeat itself. There can be two kids out there who is getting bullied just like the killers were. If nobody has their phone with them during the time of danger or in this case a shooting, how long can it take for someone to find out? How many people will be in danger because of this? Cell Phones can in matter fact save you. Imagine being all alone in the bathroom during a shooting and the shooter was about to enter you could call the cops and if anything happens to you-you can call to talk to your loved ones. Some students just feel more comfortable when their phone is on them. According to a survey conducted by Sonja Lyubomirsky,Laura King, and Ed Diener in 2005 that happiness causes success. If we keep students happy they will be more deliberate to learn, productive, and more successful. If having their cell phones out makes them happy it should be allowed. However, yes, you may be thinking what if they constantly go on apps they are not supposed to, or use it to cheat on a test? That is not ok. During any time of a test student’s can put their phone in a bin in the front of the classroom.
