Should A College Education Be Free Essay

Free college tuition has become a debatable issue especially with some candidates in the 2016 election year. The Democratic Party has made this important within their campaign. College tuition is known to be expensive, but the question presented with this is to who should fund college education. Currently in the U.S. today, higher education is a balance between students and the government with more of a focus on students. The government pays for higher education dependent upon levels of income. Lower income families receive Pell Grants or any other type of free money. The remaining amount is left up to the students to pay through loans. It would be funded for through taxes that every American would have to pay if they had a student going to college or not. Not only would taxes increase, but also the money used on many college students may be wasted. Tax dollars are wasted because more students are opted to go to college since it is free and those students do not receive the ability of knowing how to work hard to pay for things themselves. College education should not be free to students because the amount of money wasted is too great due to students not taking it serious. Viewpoints presented from the opposing side want free college education because it gives more people the chance to go to college.
