A S.M.A.R.T. goal is specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound. First, the specifics include the who, what, where, and why. My goal educational goal would be to receive a Master’s of Science in Nursing from the University of North Carolina – Charlotte, by my 30th birthday, so I can have a stable career where I may be of service to my community. Who would be me, what would be to receive my Masters of Science in Nursing, where would be UNC Charlotte, and why is to have a stable career where I can service our inhabitants.
Next, how measurable your goal is, meaning when will you reach your goal, a metaphorical finish line. In my scenario it would be my 30th birthday. In general, a reasonable goal has to have a point you can reach.
