Essay On My Short Term Goals

Improved Essays
Just like many of my peers, I came to college in order to allow myself a better and more option-filled future to do whatever it is that I decide to set my focus on. However, to obtain the right education and experiences to enable this, goals (both short-term and long-term) must be set. My short-term goals include making A’s in all of my courses this semester, securing an internship for the summer involving animals, and acing all of my chemistry 101 tests. As for my long-term goals, I want to get accepted into veterinary school, maintain a 3.5 or higher GPR as I get my undergraduate degree, and to positively impact others lives with my work. In order to achieve my short-term goals of making A’s in my courses for the semester, getting an internship, …show more content…
In order to get into veterinary school, I must have a high GPR, have numerous hours of experience working with animals, and be involved in both my school and community. My idea is that as I achieve each of my short-term goals, I will also be setting myself up to achieve my long term goals. I will need to be focused in my work and be driven to fully understand the material in each of my classes, both while getting my undergraduate degree and while in veterinary school. I will need to have self-discipline in order to stay involved and to obtain my experience through shadowing and internships. If I am able to do all of this, then achieving my goal of maintaining a 3.5 GPR will be more likely to be meet as I will be very involved in my studies and learning everything I can about each subject. As for my goal of improving other people’s lives in a positive way once I secure a job, I will need to use my knowledge and experience I obtained throughout college in order to correctly diagnose and treat each animal that comes under my care. However, for all of this to happen, I must complete each of the goals I have set for

Being in my last year of high school I have begun to think about what goals I want to accomplish during college or after college. I have come to a conclusion that after college I would like to obtain my doctorate degree in Veterinary Medicine and start a family. After college I would love to get my doctorate because I enjoy helping animals and their owners. Growing up I have always had a soft spot for animals in my heart, but by majoring in wildlife sciences, it will allow me to come out of my shell and take a different path from just dogs and cats. Also by majoring in this department, I hope to encounter different cultural backgrounds so that I can grow culturally and learn about others while helping them with whatever struggles they…

One of the scariest parts about attending college directly after high school is the huge shift in responsibility. Now, you’re in charge of making your schedule, paying your bills, handling school assignments, and most importantly making the right choices that will ultimately affect your future’s outcome. Unfortunately, I never received much guidance about the transition into college due to the fact that I am a first-generation college student coming from an extremely financially unstable home. However, I managed to find my way through my first few semesters, of course with many bumps along the road. Some generously-curved exams and dropped assignments later, I found that my passion was not actually biology but was actually health care and education.…

I have always had a passion for the arts, both in fine art and literature. I’ve always had a pull toward the fine arts and creating imagery, but had essentially tabled the idea of creating such imagery with words. I think one of the main reasons that I had waited so long to declare this major was because the pursuit of my Bachelor’s degree in Art took up a large portion of my time, so I was concerned about having such a fierce workload. Now that I have nearly completed my degree, I have been giving more thought to my writing as a whole, and after my Intro to Creative Writing class this semester, I knew that I had to pursue my writing goals. Writing takes the work of art you wish to create and not only manifests it into a written world, but creates new dreams.…
