January 1, 2016 the open carry law went into effect to the public after its first debut in June of last year in Texas. The open carry law has been passed in 44 other states not including Texas. The law allows citizens the ages of 18 and older to carry firearms openly with the fact Texas, a state of high crime rate, passed the open carry law (OCL). This law increases crimes such as murders and increases inmate population; the law gives the public a opportunity to make more poor decisions. Texas its self has enough serious issues as it is, passing the law puts us in a state of great danger; not only to the citizens of our state , but most importantly the innocent elders and children. Guns includes, higher death rates, store robberies, home invasions, gang violence, lack of responsibilities for firearms around homes , and etc. To look more into OCL of Tx, Open Carry Law of Texas , the cons strongly outweigh the pros of having them. The only pro guns have is protection of the innocent.

In Texas of 2011 the gun murder rate way at 699 deaths in that one year alone. Putting our state in the whole U.S as number two in the higher firearm murders behind California. It's now 2016, three years later, the rate has tremendously increased since then. There is always that story on unsupervised children getting a hold of a gun in their house hold. Just a few years back my little cousin was last seen at his friend's house playing 2k when all of a sudden he's dead. He was shot in the head. The story came out to be while playing the video game he was winning when the little hispanic boy pulled his parents gun out on him and killed him right then and there. This makes me truly and positively believe this law should have not been passed in the state of Texas. Parents are not talking their right to bare arms
