Observing the entity as a whole, it is easy to identify that each level has a significant impact on one another, meaning that team work is vital to optimal care. If senior management hires under skilled managed care professionals, patients will not be provided correct estimates of services or may not be referred to specialists as needed. Cost estimates are extremely crucial in ensuring a patients do not receive therapies or surgeries that do not have a positive cost benefit. For example, a patient may request a preventive colonoscopy under the advice of a doctor. The patient is then quoted an estimate which exceeds $1,000 for a preventive screening under the current plan year. However, the patient’s insurance policy may cover a colonoscopy screening for members over sixty at 100% of the allowable amount. If the initial request was made by a patient who was fifty-eight at the time, they may choose to forgo the test until they have reached sixty.
