We would have all different colors of spray paint that we would use on the cars to make neat little designs on them. The smell of spray paint reminds me of those days when I was a little bit younger. And the good time I had making pinewood derby cars with my dad and my friends.
While we were waiting for the paint to dry we would take a dremel and put axles in it and polish them with some sort of special sand paper so that the wheels would turn better on the track and the car would go faster and smoother. Once the car was dry and the axles were polished we would test them on the track. Our group always had this advantage because we hosted the event and had the track set up the night before the race.
The day of the race was always an exciting day, I would always wake up to early and have to wait till it would finally be time to leave and head to church for the race. When we got there I would walk into the foyer and see all the race day decorations hanging from the ceiling. After we got there we would send our cars though the weight in station and then the car would be taken to the pit to await the races, with all the other cars that were sitting there waiting to go on to the
