Personal Narrative: My Trip To Las Vegas Nevada

Improved Essays
One great memory in my life is my trip to Las Vegas, Nevada. I went and stayed with my girlfriend and her family, we drove over there in one truck it took us about 10 hours. The trip there seemed like it would never end, the first few hours we were all excited to get there but soon after that all we wanted to do is sleep. We stopped in a couple towns on the way there to either fuel up or just get something to eat. The food on the way there was pretty much chips, soda, and some food from Mcdonalds. So it wasnt really a 5 star meal, but it would do just fine to make it there. We all took turns driving, i myself drove about 6 of those hours to give my girlfriend's sister's husband time to sleep and rest. I did not sleep at all in those hours,

    1. I grew up in San Francisco in an area where the majority of residents had lives there for generations. In my building all of my neighbors were older than my parents and a few were even older than my grandparents. Mrs. Garcia was a woman who lived in the apartment under us. She was in her 90s and had lost most of her hearing by the time I was eight…

On Thursday, October 12th, I took the opportunity to help at the Agua Caliente Casino’s College Fair event, with the intention that I would also see the schools I intend to apply. While at the event, I saw many colleges and universities with their luring stands’ free candies, pens, and informational brochures. Overall, the schools all had something great to offer; whether it was the small class sizes or amazing student abroad programs. Although universities from as far as Hawaii to Oregon may have grabbed my attention – because of its stunning scenery and programs – I restricted my preferences to California schools. In particular, my eyes lit up when I saw UC Irvine, UC Riverside, CSU Channel Islands, – given that I’ve seen some of these see…

Two thousand five hundred eighty-seven. I could take an eight-hour flight or a casual thirty-seven-hour drive, but no matter what, I am still two thousand five hundred eighty-seven miles away from my home in New Haven, Connecticut. Being a college freshman, trying to juggle class, homework, projects, studying, sleeping, eating, and athletics; finding the travel time to go home is an almost impossible task. Add in the cost of the $600 flights round trip and there is no chance a student can go visit home when they feel a little homesick. I on the other hand had never even fathomed being homesick from the frozen tundra I called home.…

I knew I couldn’t eat all the food I brought with me because I wanted to save it for the rest of the trip. We stopped and ate a nice, filling meal at eight o’clock at Cracker Barrel, and after that, we were off on the road again. After not getting enough sleep the night before, I had to get some sleep as we continued on our way to Orlando. I found a great place to sleep that was not crowded or had a seatbelt sticking out of it like the chairs did. And that special place that I found was the floor of the bus.…

In January of last year I went on a trip to Colorado on a "college visit" with a friend and my father to University of Colorado Boulder. We left Wednesday night, skipping school both Thursday and Friday. We did go to the college and took a tour of the campus on Thursday which I greatly enjoyed, it is beautiful out there and at elevation there is very little humidity. The true intention of the trip, as important as the college visit was, was to go to Breckenridge Resort and spend the weekend snowboarding. A couple of my dad's friends were also going and we were going to share their timeshare.…

Growing up in the Valleys of Reno Nevada the weather can be unexpected and terrible from the summer rainstorms to the whiteout winter in five feet of snow. There are a lot of power outages that I have encountered, knowing how to start a fire and get some kind of heat and light was imperative to my family. My mom was always prepared. On the counter top in the corner of our bathroom always sat a dusty odd looking glass kerosene lamp that was always topped off with smelly kerosene.…

The clock above my head ticks slowly, the sound ever increasing as the minutes pass by; tick, tick, tick. I normally do not notice the time while I work, usually I am the energizer bunny of workers, in early, out late, always working, but that day was different. I had a date; a first date to be exact. Finally the time has come for me to go home; I step out into the warm Vegas air.…

Although I am embarrassed to tell this story, for it screams massive class and racial privilege, I guess it will be another step in the acceptance of my innate privilege and social status. A few weeks ago, I had the chance to hang out with a high school buddy of mine, whom I had not seen in a while. He texted me asking if I was interesting in making a trip to the L’auberge Casino, for his girlfriend had just recently turned twenty-one and was interested in trying out her new legal freedom. I had not been to the casino since my twenty-first birthday, about ten months ago, so I decided that playing with the slot machines would not hurt. As the time to leave came, I hopped in my car, left my house, located in a subdivision on Staring Lane,…

Human beings in all nature run into problems that are out their control. A situation that was out of my control was when I went to Atlantic City with my friends in 2012. To me, although the menu gave lunch and dinner options, it seemed more of a place for brunch so we ordered breakfasts. Or excitement was hard to contain once we had our food in front of us.
