5 years ago i was sitting in my kitchen listening to my parents talk about what my sister was going to be that they on her mission trip. Everyone on the mission trip had know idea where they were going or what they were doing. My parents and the leaders on the trip knew where they were going but the kids didn't. I was so jealous that she got to go on it and i knew that i wanted to do that someday. Well two summers ago I was invited to go on this mystery mission trip just like the one my sister went on. My answer was a definite yes because i have wanted to do this for a long time and now here was my opportunity. It felt like forever before we had to pack and drive to the high school to get on the RVs. I was kind of excited and nervous at the same time because we didn't know where we were were going. All that we knew is that we would be gone for seven days and we weren't leaving the country. Another reason i was nervous is because i didn't know some of the people going on the trip with us. There was people from chillicothe and one person from delavin. And after looking back on it now i shouldn't have been scared because i did not know what what was going to happen next. …show more content…
I grabbed a donut and then looked over at the parking lot to see two RVs and a white van unloading with these people with the same Route 3 mission trip shirts on. I was so confused until i saw Eric potter. Eric was in charge of eureka campus life when my sister was in high school until he switched over to leading city life (peoria's campus life). Everyone who came off that bus was going to be going on a trip with me for 7 days. I was really nervous now because when i was scared of meeting new people i had no idea this was coming. we left from the rest stop and i was on the RV with a bunch of strangers and my sisters boyfriend. But now these guys are some of my really good friends

After spending a week with people who had less then me, I understood that I was completely wrong. I learned that people who have nothing are the most caring and empathetic. I was only 14 when I went on my mission trip, but experiencing that such a young age has shaped me for who I am. I was involved in three mission trips, which all occurred in the States, but in all three-mission trips I helped people who I believe needed it most. I was proud of what I did and I think it was something that not a lot of people did at my age. One of my biggest motivators were the people I was helping. After going on my first trip, I had bonded with others and had made me realize what the real world is like outside a small town in Iowa.…

The Journey, In Retrospect The whole semester of English 5A was like playing with Legos, but with literature. I would use the things I learned previously in high school and build them up with the new things I learned from 5A. It was very difficult to find the right parts and piece them together to create the “perfect” essay. On the other hand, I was able to learn the necessary skills to converse with the authors in the text, From Inquiry to an Academic Writing, by Stuart Greene and April Lidinsky.…

Mission's Trip The third week of June, 2015, marks the week my perspective on life changed. This trip contributed to the obliteration of my egotistical state of mind. I went on a prayer tour, spent time at an elderly apartment complex, helped at a community outreach, served at a food bank, and visited a children's learning center. Each of these experiences affected me differently, but were similar in that they all changed my outlook on life.…
