Once we arrived to the campus,I felt so excited to complete the Team Building Ropes Course for the second time. So,the first thing we did once we got there were some activities that required is to work as a team which I thought was pretty fun. Then they divided us into two large groups and the group that I was in happend to be the first group that was going to complete the course first, so,we walked over to the course and we had a chance to do more activities that require teamwork, trust, communication skills, and emotional strength. So,I began to climb the net and when I got to the top,I began to feel an adrenaline rush go through my body. But I decided to ignore it because I had set a goal for myself that day that I was going to get through all the obstacles that were in this stage, so as soon as I stepped on the wire,I began to feel really nervous, but somehow I managed to get over it and keep going. A strategy that I was using was to not look down at the ground at all because that made me even more nervous. Something that I realized while going through the course was that your teammates play a huge role in this activity. Going through this course becomes more easier with the help your teammates. When I was about half way,I realized that it was getting more complicated, but I managed to achieve it with some help from my teammates. When I had gone through the four obstacles,it was finally time to zip line. As I watched the other PSA students ahead of me jump off the platform I began to have second thoughts and began to think what have I gotten myself into. But,then I said to myself that I was going to do it because that was the reason why I got on it the first place, so,it was finally my turn and everyone that was with me did a countdown and I jumped off. So I slowly grasped the sweaty handle bars of the zip line and the conductor tightly put the black belt on my waist. Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! I took one deep breath and started thinking about how much I had to do in life and if I should go on this risk taking ride. Though, my fear was there, I thought about how this zip line wasn’t that long and could probably come back in 2 minutes, and I could always close my eyes which sort of helped to relieve my fears..…

After passing the qualifying test I moved on to the municipal lifeguard training program; which is a forty hour training course, a CPR course, and a written test. The hardest part of the program is the final swimming test; to qualify for a pool assignment, candidates must be able to swim 440 yards in 7 minutes and 40 seconds, or 6 minutes and 40 seconds to qualify for a beach assignment. Though out this whole process family and friends are making bets on the outcome. But I knew what the outcome was going to be, I was determined, all that training boiled down to that one moment. Walking to Penn Station I let out a sigh of relief, and hopped on the LIRR to go home.…

I was only 14 when I went on my mission trip, but experiencing that such a young age has shaped me for who I am. I was involved in three mission trips, which all occurred in the States, but in all three-mission trips I helped people who I believe needed it most. I was proud of what I did and I think it was something that not a lot of people did at my age. One of my biggest motivators were the people I was helping. After going on my first trip, I had bonded with others and had made me realize what the real world is like outside a small town in Iowa.…

The thing about running is that you hate it until it’s over, at least for me that’s true. Personally, I like running, and it gives me a chance to get out and work towards something. All throughout high school, I’ve run track, and for two years I ran cross-country, both are great sports. The two years I ran cross-country made me wish I ran all four years. If you’re part of more than one sport, it’s natural to choose a favorite.…

Semester of Learning Experiences People most always say, “ Learn from you mistakes and achievements.” I would definitely conclude that is exactly what I’ve done this first semester of college. There are many times that I wanted to simply curl into a ball because of all the newness and unfamiliarity. At times I found myself doing just that, but realizing that I needed to toughen up burst from my comfort zone. I can say sleeping through your classes never the best choice, not going just because you find it too easy, missing a class just to write a paper for another class, and differentiating between minimal and highly important status of choices.…
