Mission's Trip
The third week of June, 2015, marks the week my perspective on life changed. This trip contributed to the obliteration of my egotistical state of mind. I went on a prayer tour, spent time at an elderly apartment complex, helped at a community outreach, served at a food bank, and visited a children's learning center. From the Private Journal of a Journey The events of American history are very much connected to the influence of American literature and what it has become today. The effects of the world around him/her mostly gather the inspiration that a writer needs, and this is how the geography and history of America have made an impact on American literature. Our field trip to Chicago offered me a new way of seeing the city. I have been to Chicago multiple times, yet this trip offered me an experience I was not expecting. It offered me an insight to the darkness that covers the city and the beacons of light that try to shine through that darkness. It opened my eyes to those who are searching for a truth, a love and an acceptance and are finding it in so many different places; whether it is Jesus People USA, South East Friendship Center, Olive Branch, a Krishna Temple or an Islamic Mosque. In each of these places individuals are just trying to figure out where they belong and if they can find acceptance, but what each offers is entirely different.…

If I could do something I've never done before, I would go on a missions trip. I would choose to do this because ever since I was younger, about in seventh grade, I have felt a call to go to Japan and minister. I feel like if God has given me the idea, it is meant to happen sometime in his plan for me. I would also want to go on a missions trip because that is what God has commanded us to do; spread his word. Taking this opportunity and using it to honor God would be just what he would want me to…

I also worked with underserved communities while volunteering abroad in Israel. At Alyn Children’s Hospital, over half the children lived under the poverty line. On that day, I headed down to Harlem in New York City to feed these “unknowns”. I left the safety and comfort of my home for a beat-up, rusty, early 2000s Ford E350 that would take me down to the depths of Harlem, to a soup kitchen that was completely unfamiliar to me. I loaded the van with countless trays of cold pasta and sauce. By the time we got to Harlem, it was already drizzling and cloudy. I got out of the van along with the other volunteers and a representative from our church, who also ended up volunteering.…

I always road pass the building to get to work, but never been inside to see how the buildings were structured. I have never been jailed, but always knew someone affected by the criminal justice system. For me, I grew up in a home where, I was taught to be respectful to others, Christian beliefs, morals, and values instilled into me at a young age. I know these same core principles were also taught to the many of the young men who were presented at the jail during my visit.…

Living in the 21st century consists of moving at light speed and hardly stopping to enjoy the loyal people God placed in your life or the gorgeous Earth surrounding us. This is what I am experiencing as I am currently writing this. I’ve wanted to write this post for weeks, but couldn 't seem to find the time because of my demanding college life.
