It was the first day of our medical mission trip. The 13 of us were divided into four group: triage, clinic, pharmacy, and faith. Colin, Laure, and I sat in plastic white lawn chairs, facing the locals who sat on three wooden benches. I have done my fall internship at the same school but during the day. I feel that there is a lot I can do to support the students both academically and emotionally. During the first meeting with the counselor she expressed that being bilingual and bi-cultural will help. I know that there are not many opportunities to talk or have sessions with students, since they don’t have elective classes where I can see them, but I will try my best to be flexible with their schedules. I found out that they have a student government association, so I will try to be involved in their activities,…

On Wednesday, October 7, 2015 I eagerly went to my first Pediatric clinical site. I was nervous as always, but once I entered the Meyer site I realize I was more so in a delightful heaven. I always had a special place in my heart for children with special needs or any congenital anomalies. So to see the kids and how they interact with one another as well as how "normal" they were with their learning abilities. No children received medication during my clinical visit, although a few was said to receive medication by their parents in the morning or before bedtime.…

Personally, things were complicated growing up. I lived in a tough, low-income neighborhood with a household of six and parents who left their country for a brighter future. In addition, nothing was ever handed to me and I worked rigorously to achieve my goals. For example, these past years – I devoted sleepless nights to homework and school, all while maintaining a full-time job. Moreover, this has taught me to becoming the dedicated, hard-worker I remain today.…

During my internship experience, I learned a lot of things that I thought I knew but are misconstrued on. With that being said, I know everything must be done in decent order or this will cause chaos and lead to confusion. I also learned everything takes patience and is very time- consuming. I became frustrated, so many times and just wanted to give up, but I had to remind myself that hard times are going to come and everything is going to work out. Many times I sat on my bed crying because it seems like everything piled on me at one time.…
