Growing up I never had a clear idea of what I wanted to do as a profession. No inclination of something that amazed me or pushed me toward it. I eventually chose what I thought would be a good stable career simply because it would be a financially good choice but it never seemed like something I could stick with or love. I discounted anything from the medical field because everyone was going there and I didn't want to be a lost number of people rushing to the same career, I wanted to be a little different.…
I've always been fascinated by the world of medicine - how the body works and how breakthrough new formulae are constantly being developed. It was something I knew I would do. When asked what I wanted to be growing up, I always replied, "Doctor." Granted, looking at it now, I just said it since it was the first thing that came to mind. But it was the best job or profession I could have, so I persisted.…
Most little girls dream of being a ballerina when they grow up, I was the little girl who dreamed of medical school. Anyone who was brave enough to ask got my vehement no when asked if I thought that the college, subsequent medical school, and training would be too much school or that I would get bored. I decided very early that to be a doctor was one of the most exciting things that a person could chose to be and my fantastic pediatrician was the initial spark for this love of medicine. The care that I could see him exhibit in his daily operations as well as the ease at which he interacted with patients and parents alike inspired me. His knowledge was fascinating and I longed to have that level of understanding of the human body.…
Since I was five years old, my dream was to become a pediatrician. I am now a freshman in high school and I am enrolled in the Medical Academy. My goal is to continue throughout high school, because I can earn college credits and credentials in the medical field. However, Disney Dreamers Academy can help me reach my goals by exposing me to other motivated students who are ready to be inspired.…
I knew from a young age that I wanted to eventually have a career which positively impacted the individual. When I was six years old, I wanted to be a window washer so I could give people the joy of being able to look outside. When I was in high school, I wanted to be a speech-language pathologist in order to help people exercise their right to speak. I have always observed that I am not the type of person who functions well in an inactive environment. I learn best by doing, and I cannot sit still and watch someone else do it for me.…
My future career is a Licensed Professional Counselor. It took some different thoughts and paths to figure out that this is what I wanted to do. First, I started college wanted to be a physical therapist then got into some of the anatomy courses which showed me that the medical field was not for me. It had too much graphic pictures and videos for me to continue in that career choice, so I started thinking more in depth and came to conclusion I enjoyed helping people. After a year of being an undecided major, I took some psychology classes and took a leap towards counseling.…
Medicine has always been something I could see myself enjoying. I was initially inspired by my older sister who aspired to be a regristered nurse, and then I decided that medicine was a path I wanted to go down as well. However, when I came to college I wasn’t doing great in my natural science classes so I got decided to to into the Aging Studies field where academically I did so much better. This took me off my track to go to medical school and become a doctor but I was determined to get back on track.…
For as long as I can remember, I have dreamed of being a Nurse, specifically a Pediatric Nurse. It began when I was 8 years old, I was always sick. I had stomach problems and stayed in a Pediatric hospital for days, sometimes even weeks. During my times in the hospital, I became close with many of the doctors and nurses. I recall feeling upset at times, not scared.…

I interviewed a cardiologist named Dr. Frank Amico he was very helpful in answering my questions about what it takes to be a cardiologist and what he loves about his job. I learned that he spent a total of twelve years and $228,000 on his schooling after high school. The twelve years included four years of an undergraduate degree, four years of medical school and eight years at his residency, when the minimum is three years. He spent so much time in his residency learning everything there was about the heart, specializing in four different areas. Each of these specialties required a board exam to receive his licensing and certification to work in these fields.…
The area in Kinesiology that interests me the most is, Physical Therapy. There are many reasons to why i chose this profession, but my injuries, the support from my family and friends, and the adequate amount of schooling that it takes in order to become a Physical Therapist have to be the main reasons. Other than that, it also helps knowing that this profession is becoming so high in demand because of the ‘fitness boom’, and also the income of a Physical Therapist especially in San Francisco is very reassuring as well. Since i’ve been 12 years old i’ve wanted to be a Pediatrician, i wrote about it in all my school projects and even drew pictures of myself dressed in scrubs with the label “Dr. Rashidi” underneath it.…
As kids growing up you were asked the same question over and over, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” Kids reply princess, astronaut, dancer, teacher, etc. and occasionally you have that one who just says they want to do nothing, but play video games. Nevertheless, the answer is simply I do not know or I have not thought about it. Personally, growing up I wished to become a doctor, not just any doctor, a pediatrician.…
Do you know the silent girl who sits in the back of the class? Of course you don't! Well, I am that girl. I might seem quiet but, I have a loud personality.…
I have known from a young age that I wanted to do something exceptional in my life. Something about helping others drew me in, so I knew a career in the medical field would be my best fit. It was not until a traumatic day in my life occurred that made me realize I was bound to be a nurse. I have played volleyball for five year, my senior year was not an exception. Volleyball was the only sport I played and my passion.…
When I was young, I went through all the career choices kids usually have: doctor, princess, etc. It wasn’t until about eight grade that my career choices became practical. I have switched between a number of different jobs since. Sometimes, I would only want a job for a couple of weeks then I would switch. Sometimes I would come back to the same job after eight months of wanting a new one.…
