They did not have a chance at the American Dream. My father and his family came over to America when he was a young boy. They resided at a local refugee camp in Cambodia. Luckily, they were sponsored over by Bethel College Mennonite Church to come over to America. My dad being the oldest of 5 children wanted to provide for his family, since they came over with nothing. His first instinct was that money would solve all the problems. He collected a job at a local cabinet company. Everyday he gets up before the sun comes out and works till about mid-afternoon putting in hours of physical hard work per week. The rest of his brothers and sisters went on to become a pharmacist, lawyer, and well the other two were not quite as successful. Next step in his life was marriage. My dad went back to Vietnam to marry my mother and well the rest was history. My mom acquired the same job as my father, but she was not happy. She decided to go back and do some training to become a nail technician, where she spends her days doing manicures, pedicures, you know the works. Although my parent’s American Dream is not as lavish or ideal as anyone else would imagine, but it works out for them. They appreciate what job they have and all the good work they do for my sister and I. They want to provide us the opportunity to strive for education that they did not have a chance to receive. So when we get to
