Nurse Practitioner Interview

This took me off my track to go to medical school and become a doctor but I was determined to get back on track. Which leads me to why I wanted to interview a Nurse Practitioner (NP). I began to do research at the beginning of the semester about becoming an NP, because to me this was my second chance at being half of what I dreamed of when I was a child. …show more content…
She returned my phone call the next day and set up a time to meet her at the hospital during her lunch Thursday the 15th of October. We re-introduced ourselves because I had previously met when I was an intern at the hospital. We held our interview in one of the meeting rooms on the 4th floor of the hospital; which was an optimal setting becasue I had been in that room plenty of times, so had she, so the both of us were physically comfortable. The only thing that I have to say about the room is that because it’s on the actual hospital floor and not in the office building is that there can be some distractions from the nurses, patients, and doctors walking around. Allie and I didn’t use the normal interview opening, simply because we already knew eachother so we did a little catching up instead. She asked me how I’ve been since my internship there, and how school was going. I informed her that school was going well and then went into explaining what the interview would consist of, and procceded with the questions I had prepared. What I think could have better at this point was that, I could have asked how thingswere going at the hospital and any interesting cases that she’s had to make the conversation more comfortable, but I didn’t think about it until after the

Discussion Question 1 1. When we consider what types of patients may use the service of a nurse practitioner, instead of a physician, I think it needs to be evaluated on the needs and health of the patient looking for service. More nurse practitioners are being integrated into the healthcare system, in order to assist with a primary care physician shortage. The nurses who have completed extra schooling for this position of a nurse practitioner, are familiar with many of the circumstances that can present in an office or an urgent care facility on a day to day basis (Knickman & Kovner, A., 2015). I have seen nurse practitioners for everyday concerns, like an earache and I did not have any reservations that she was not a physician.…

The initial encounter with my nursing educator preceptor was an interview to get myself acclimatized to first and foremost her nature and qualities as a person and as an educator, as I moved on with the interview and assessed her in both roles, I realized that is the kind of person I would like to be as a nurse educator. It was a positive interview and to see her in action, because not only is she firm with her students, she also takes into account the student’s emotional welfare and home situations into consideration. This interview afforded me the chance to see firsthand a role model of a nurse educator, and observe the behaviors and attitudes of someone that I admires and eventually adopt those behaviors or attitudes as I assume my role…

This was not idealistic since we were not able to meet in real life, but I got a feeling of how a real interview would be like. I was a bit nervous, but if I most say so, I think it worked out quite well. I was pleased with my work and how the pre-test went. Something interesting that came up during the pre-test was that my friend, let’s call her Mia, said that she believes that peers have a great influence because they have been influenced themselves through the media. It made me aware that it might be a connection here.…
