Personal Narrative: Kick Off Return !

Improved Essays
“Kick off return!” Coach Underberg’s voice was the loudest in the stadium, thinking to myself “this is the first varsity game i'll ever play in”. My blood was pumping and i was ready to go. I had spent all summer preparing and the previous week perfecting my job. I rushed onto the field and got into my spot on the right side on the 30 yard line. I surveyed the field looking for my target, he was the edge of their kickoff team, number 3. Coach called the play “red! red!” he yelled across the field, everyone could hear him. My blood was already pumping but this just made it beat faster. I still had trouble comprehending what was happening. This was actually happening, this is why I went to all the camps over the summer, it was go time. Screeech!

I responded “nah that’s a tough pass this close to the goal line, let's just go with a slant to Login since they are double teaming Derek”, Coach Morris finally agreed and said “alright let's do it”! “Come on let's do this” I remember saying in the huddle, then we got set for potentially the last play of the season. I was nervous because the game and the season was literally in my hands. I had the ball in my hands and Logan came open on the slant so I fired it in there and it sailed off his fingertips. The…

I could feel the cold, crisp air seeping through my jersey as I watched our struggling defense. Who were jaded and bittered, letting up more than 28 points this game. My recurrent shoulder dislocations were a constant battle, but a battle in which I’d always won. After a dislocation, all it took was a couple weeks of physical therapy before I could return to the baseball field. Although, after my fifth dislocation I ended up sitting in the hospital awaiting the results of my MRI with an uncomfortable feeling in my stomach. My surgeon soon returned with news that my injury required a season-ending surgery. Thus, I had a Bankart Repair on my throwing shoulder, and afterwards, although devastated, I supported my teammates from the sidelines for the entirety of the season.…

A whole season of hard work and commitment had brought us to this chance to move into a first place tie in the conference. Moreover, with a few winnable games left, we had the chance of an outright conference championship. For me, this game meant a lot more. I was feeling validated for the hard work I had been putting into practice even though I was not a starter. I was showing strong teamwork and helping the offense run better with strong fundamentals and understanding of the coach’s desired offensive approach.…

At a younger age, I would say I believed that I can only trust myself and my mother, this is because as a little kid my mom would always tell me that there are bad people in the world and that giving them any information about anything can be very harmful. But as I grew up and realized what was actually happening in my country I knew there were millions of others that were suffering against the “bad people” and we could only do something about it if the whole community came together to help. It was at that time when I was about 25, when I started to put some effort into trying to establish more just conditions within my country especially after the implication of extremely high food prices. This is when I started my first strike involving my…

Last Thursday I had a chance to play on one of my friends flag football team called “ Back to Back”. The game started at eight pm, so got there a minute after eight. The first thing I noticed while playing Flag football was how different it was from regular football. I played regular ball for about ten years and it felt a whole lot easier than flag.
