“Our starting lineup will consist of all of our original starts with the exception of Donovan starting at quarterback.” Coach King responded Once again, I began to become anxious about the approaching game and my mind began to think about everything that could go wrong. We went back to the locker room to get dressed and headed out for warm-ups. During warm-ups, I began to find a rhythm in my throws and found enough confidence in myself to make me feel like I could lead my team through this game. Coach King called me to the side after we finished warming up and asked how I was feeling.…

“Man, we kicked the crap out of those guys.” Theo announced “Yeah, just look at the scoreboard.” Eric agreed Earlier, that Thursday before Friday’s game against the rival Carolville Hawks, the Tri-county Titans were sitting in their high school waiting to be dismissed by the bell so that they could go to a low-tempoed walk-through practice. The whole team and some of their classmates were all jammed inside of a small, four walled white room with only one window, their last teacher for the day, Mrs. Carey, a math teacher who was a middle aged woman with short greyish hair who had strict rules, but was fairly nice if you weren’t being a goof during her class, asserted “Now even though the boys have a game tomorrow there will still be still…

The drive to the final game was fairly short, when we arrived little droplets of water started coming down. As the entire team started to head into the gymnasium, we could slowly feel the anxiety getting to us. The sounds of sneakers squeaking against the shiny wooden floor filled the room and the stands were crowed with aggravated parents cheering their team off. As I walked around, I could smell and hear the crackling of the popcorn from the concession stand and cold breeze from the outside.…
