Personal Narrative: My First Shot Fired

Improved Essays
“The First Shot Fired” It all started when I went to my nephew’s birthday party at a gun club when I was 12. my nephew’s grandpa told me to bring my shotgun, so I did and when we got there he told us that he owned this gun club. After we were done eating and opening presents he told me “get your shotgun, we’re gonna see how good you are.” When I got my shotgun we went up on to the wobble stand he told me to say pull when i’m ready. I loaded a shell, took my safety off and mounted the gun and was ready to shoot. I yelled “pull” and out came a bright orange clay bird what seemed to be traveling faster than the speed of light. I pointed the shotgun at the clay bird and pulled the trigger and the bird exploded. He told me to shoot more so I put 4 shells in the tube and put one in the chamber then yelled pull. I broke 5 straight, which is pretty good for a first timer. He told me that I am going to shoot 25 and see how many I can shoot. When I shot my round, he told me my score was 22 out of 25. After we got to talking, he told us that he has a sporting clay team for youths and that I should join. After a few months of debating, my dad and I agreed that I could join the team. I didn't believe I was going to be on the team until one day …show more content…
I was so eager to be called a “ non rookie” for once. One time we shot with the team and the coach used me as an example, man does that make ya feel special. Just to know that I could be one of those people that would help the new kids was awesome. Even though I got pretty good at shooting I still had many problems with my stance and focus. I was so dedicated to becoming a better shooter that I got Anthony Matarese the 19 Time NSCA All-American shooter to help me and show me what I am doing wrong. Apparently I was doing only 3 things wrong which were; my hold point on my shotgun, my stance and my focus. Anthony gave me many exercises to help improve my

The Arrival I had originally planned to travel to Rio on September 5th through September 12th. A perspicacious and experienced hunter named Rainsford accompanied me. It was nighttime when I first spotted land of any sort. It was vaguely visible and was opaque, so misty that even Rainsford couldn’t see it. Utterly tired, I began drifting off, dreaming of the adventures we were soon to face.…

I am suddenly bombarded by the sound of empty gunfire, which is shots coming from air rifles without putting in a projectile. Doing so makes sure that your air rifle is purged from old air that may have lost pressure from your previous shooting. I do the same with mine and take aim at the target. The target systems are something from the future. They work by having a projectile break three lasers then triangulating the position of the projectile at a specified distance.…

He helped me and showed me how to tackle, told me how to position, and we did some passing with me, Henry and Wilson. Finally Wilson took some shots and I got to see how he shot the soccer ball so I could replicate it. We moved on from the pylon drill on to just regular passing, and I am glad that happened. Even though the simple passing is really quite simple, it is effective in my opinion and solved the problem we had with the previous passing drill. This time we improved a lot in the recordings, as we now don’t face the sun so our videos are lot brighter and now we filmed it so you can see what everyone is doing, even though it’s a bit shaky at times since we have to run with the…

Square one can be bliss for many of us. We recall all the memories that come out of it, the smiles, the laughter, and everything in between. I imagine square one to be our own little bubble, where we sit and twiddle our fingers, frightened to step out-- because if you do, you get sucked into the next world, a world where we think we do not belong. Yet, many of us do not even care about going back.…

It was Thursday night and I was cold. I was walking down a dark alleyway following one of my friends to meet up with some our other friends and this was her shortcut. I constantly kept feeling the urge to turn away and run, but she held my hand so tightly I could not let go. Even though I did not mind, I was still shivering so much from the cold and cringing of the thought of getting caught. “Lee, I really don’t think that we should do this.”…

At a younger age, I would say I believed that I can only trust myself and my mother, this is because as a little kid my mom would always tell me that there are bad people in the world and that giving them any information about anything can be very harmful. But as I grew up and realized what was actually happening in my country I knew there were millions of others that were suffering against the “bad people” and we could only do something about it if the whole community came together to help. It was at that time when I was about 25, when I started to put some effort into trying to establish more just conditions within my country especially after the implication of extremely high food prices. This is when I started my first strike involving my…
