Personal Narrative: Hit The Road Again

Improved Essays
We woke up on June 3rd and hit the road again. We were going to try and make it as far as we could today. We made plans to meet up with my dad, grandma, aunt, and brother in Minneapolis, or somewhere close to, for lunch. My dad had been in Minneapolis the previous days, and wanted to see me before I was gone. We met up at a restaurant called Doolittles. It was fancier than we thought it was going to be. We had lunch, and it was time to leave. I gave my dad a hug and started to tear up. I had that nervous feeling in my stomach again. My dad reassured me, once again that I would be fine, and that he would see me in a month. We hit the road again. Once we hit Minneapolis, we decided to go to the Mall of America, because they had never been there before. I was shocked. I thought everyone had been there before. We looked around for a little bit and hit the road, once again. We made it to Madison, Wisconsin, that night. We were too tired to do anything, so we went straight to bed.

It was huge, and right by the bay. It was super pretty. We went on a huge ferris wheel, and while at the top, you could see a lot of Chicago. I was scared of heights, so I didn’t do a lot of looking around. I regret this now. We went on a speedboat called the “Seadog Extreme.” It’s advertised as a thrill ride. It whips you around in the bay, doing cookies and splashing you with water. I had a lot of fun. While here, I made a mental note to come back again one day. After the thrill of this, we had to find this place that supposedly serves the best Chicago deep dish pizza. My dad had heard about it while it was featured on Man vs Food. It took us awhile to find it, but it was definitely worth getting lost. It took an hour to cook, but it was the best pizza I have ever eaten. That night we stayed just outside of Chicago. We would finally be making the last stretch of the trip

Officially, starting from that day, my life was filled with elation and happiness. I never want to forget the time I started reading Maximum Ride. Starting off my day, I woke up from bed, gulped down some chow, and went back to sitting on my more than comfortable bed, reading the book of my future dreams: “Maximum Ride.” It was necessary to read this book, for a competition, called, Battle of the Books. Continuing on, the deeper I read into the book, the more hooked into the book I was.…

When I ride it's like the earth stops at every corner so I can check to make sure a, loud, car isn't roaring towards me. It's like that feeling in your chest that tells you that everything is going to be ok, yet your mind is screaming at you that it won't be. I ride because I was thought that you need to be active in life, but it was never about the one hour of activity time we are supposed to have growing up. it was much more than that. I didn't need help to ride, I needed help to face down my enemies, or conquer my dreams.…

After five hours under Mrs. Gonzalez’s 1997 Plymouth, my hands were so dirty I had to wash them ten times just to see my fingernails again. She was a familiar face around the shop, given that neighborhood thieves had routinely targeted her car. This time, though, they had gone too far. Someone had crawled underneath the car and cut out the valuable catalytic converter, and she couldn’t afford a replacement. When I looked at her and said, “That’ll be $563,” her face turned pale.…

LONG ASS DAY The ride to Austin seemed to last a lifetime. I was sprawled in the backseat sleeping the hours away until we finally arrived into the hot city.
