A company must have sound leadership to be successful in today’s global market. There are many types of leadership styles that one can perform such as transformational and visionary. However, there is not any one style of leadership that is greater than the other. True leaders, no matter what style they choose, have the initiative and drive to out-perform the competition. Today’s business market has forced leaders to become change agents that can effectively formulate and implement a strategic vision and mission.

Historical Changes in Leadership
Analyzing the leadership within the case study did not reveal any significant changes in the leadership. The leadership presented a corporate social responsibility (CSR) throughout the case study. The leadership functioned as a self-regulating business that actively pursued compliance with law, ethical standards, and encouraging a positive impact within the communities that they served (Metcalf & Benn, 2013).
CSR was not the only leadership practice that was emulated but was a change from what some businesses practice currently. One could say that the CSR approach is a change from historical styles of leadership. If one would analyze other successful companies in the past, I believe that they would find similar traits as CSR. Many historical leadership styles change names but have many of the same attributes of modern styles. However, Panera was successful with this modern approach in their leadership.
Leadership Style Mostly Emulated
Ron Shaich and the administration team at Panera Bread Company displayed a transformational leadership style that was very evident throughout the case study.
