Starbucks released their five year strategic plan at their annual conference in December of 2016. Starbucks plan is to add 12,000 stores globally with a long range goal for 37,000 additional stores by the year 2021. Starbucks is projecting a 10% revenue growth with a 15-20 percent EPS growth and mid-single digit growth each year (Starbucks Newsroom, 2016). They also will be focused on continued recognition and elevation for the brand coupled emphasis on customer experience. Starbucks will continue the innovative work in the digital flywheel and mobile ecosystems (Starbucks Newsroom, 2016). Starbucks has a very well-known brand globally. They have expanded into Canada with projection of three stores to include the city of Vancouver (Bailey, S. 2015). Nordstrom has been very successful in their on-line sales and plan to continue their growth history of 20 to 30% for the upcoming years (Bailey, S. 2015). Nordstrom strategy to achieve their goals is to continue to leverage their strong multichannel capabilities in stores, online websites, and off-price stores (Bailey, S. 2015). Nordstrom has found great success in their on-line shoppers and will continue to cater to those consumers through Nordstrom.com and Nordstrom Rack.com/Hautelook (Bailey, S. 2015). They will focus both on the high end markets and the Rack store advantages for the savvy consumer. Nordstrom strong customer service program will remain a strong focus for future success towards their goals and deliverables.
