Personal Statement: Finding The Best Career

Superior Essays
My whole life I have been asked the question “What do you want to be when you grow up?” and every time I would have a different answer from the previous one. When I was younger, I wanted to be a teacher, but then it started changing as I grew older from a singer to a pharmacist and now back to a teacher. Throughout high school, most of my volunteer work dealt with teaching children how to swim or being a Sunday school teacher. It would be an honored to be someone the students can look up to and someone they can turn to for help. Throughout my time in school, I have met so many wonderful teachers who have inspired me to want to be like them. Finding the best career is an important choice in life because no one would want to do something they dislike doing their whole life. I have been trying really hard to find something I really enjoy doing and I believe that being an elementary school teacher is something I can enjoy doing the rest of my life. I would love to interact with children and not only be able to teach them but also learn from them. Teachers are an important role in education but in return students sometimes inspire and teach teachers as well. In a radio talk show, Charlie Rinehimer, a biology professor at Northampton Community College talked about “how important [his students] are in the educational process” (“The Students”). Students also play a huge role in education. While teaching students in class, many teachers may also be inspired or learn from their students. I would really enjoy not only being able to teach the students but at the same time be influenced by them as well. Teaching is something I have experienced and would love to do for the rest of my life. A career I believe I would really enjoy doing for the rest of my life is an elementary school teacher. Ever since I was a child, I have wanted to be a teacher. Although the process of becoming a teacher takes a great deal of requirements and training, I believe that in order to be a great teacher, practice and learning is need. I hope that someday in the future I can take the responsibility of being a teacher who students can respect and look up
