After a lot of research, I decided Thailand was where I wanted to go. I read many great reviews and found that Thailand currently has a high demand for English teachers. The low-cost of living seemed perfect for a recent graduate, and the beauty and culture of the country really intrigued me. Greenheart Travel’s Teach in Thailand program caught my eye, as it had the option to include the in person TESOL certification prior to beginning teaching. I wanted to be in a program where I would have guidance and meet people who were in my same position. I also liked this specific program, as I wanted to start out with a shorter commitment since this will be my first time abroad. As a soon to be college graduate, I feel I am a great candidate for teaching English abroad because I am flexible, hardworking, and willing to take on this adventure. I will have a Bachelor’s degree this coming May from the University of South Carolina, and while I may not have specific teaching experience, I have lot of experience working with kids. I have always loved kids, which is what made me want to be a teacher in the first place. I have been a nanny and camp counselor during most summers, and have always enjoyed working with and helping kids of all ages. My minor in general education also gives me some background in teaching and student development. I want to have an experience that gives me a different outlook on life. My goal is to take a break from the average American lifestyle and learn from meeting others and their ways of life. I have traveled to many places around the United States and other places in North America, like Mexico and Canada, but have never had the experience to truly immerse myself in another culture. I know there is so much I can learn from getting myself out there and this is the perfect opportunity to get outside of my comfort zone. While I know there are definitely going to be some challenges along the way I think that the variety of people I meet, lessons I learn, and places I see will be worth taking this big
