Choosing this field is something that has deep connection with my personal life. Becoming a Diagnostic Medical sonographer would mean that I have accomplished what I have promised someone who is very dear to me. Ever since I was a little, I always wanted to be in the medical field. I always had big heart and wanted to help people so when I saw the important role that sonographers play in the medical field, it became clear to me that, being a sonographer was exactly what I want to do with my life. In 2007 someone who was very important to me passed away due to gastric cancer. When my grandmother, who was a mother, father, and a friend to me was diagnosed with gastric cancer my world collapsed. It was devastating news not only for me but also for the whole family. At the time my grandmother didn’t speak English so it was very hard for her to understand what the doctors and the stuff were saying. During the endoscopy procedure to determine the stage of her cancer, she said it was the sonographer who made her feel calm and treated her with dignity, even though she did not understand her language, that did not stop the sonographer from showing compassion to her patients. So it was that great care and sense of compassion that made me greatly appreciate what sonographers do to help their patients. Seeing the important role that sonographers play in the medical field made me realize that, becoming a sonographer would be fulfilling profession for me that would absolutely fit my…
