Why College Is Necessary Essay

For many high school students, myself included, college is simply the next stone to overturn, the next building block that will help us achieve our ambitious goals and secure future employment. Through college, students attend classes revolving around their major of study, and earn a diploma for the completion of these courses. It is the student’s job however, to take what is offered to them in class, and use it to help build their writing, speaking, and thinking abilities all while also building their soft skills. Internships are also used to build these skills,and are widely regarded as the best way to build connections with professionals in the student’s field of study, as it prepares them for future employment while also opening the door to consideration for certain job positions. Aside from achieving a higher education, college offers a unique experience of the students having a period of time to better understand themselves without the care and supervision of their guardians or parents. This time can be used to set and reevaluate goals for the future as well as establishing connections for possible future employment through the use of volunteer opportunities, internships, and community involvement. College tuition is way above many families income brackets, and even with financial aid and scholarships, countless students can’t afford to go to their top picks of colleges, and will end up going to community college instead. Not to bash on community college, but a student should be able to afford any school they get accepted into, with reasonable student loans afterwards. Pursuing a higher education is undoubtedly the wisest step to take in our modern world, with the more skills and knowledge under your belt making you a better applicant for white-collar
