It was truly an honor to be able to participate in the Intro to Teaching class and I am so grateful to have been given the opportunity to join the Teaching Academy that Valencia has to offer. At first, I was a bit skeptical as to if this was the right path for me. In one of my first semesters here at Valencia, I took a class that made us learn about who we really are and what our values were. It was an eye-opening course for me as I have felt lost in life for quite some time. Being in that course, I was able to piece things together and discover what it is I actually want. My entire life I have lived and breathed all forms of art because it’s who I am and it’s what I’m good at. Art isn’t just paintings on a canvas or a film on a screen, art is something you can feel and show through all forms. Humans are an art form to me and I believe that everyone creates their own canvas as they continue to live and breathe. We are a canvas and we are the artists of our own canvas as well as the canvas of others. Many people, including myself, do not realize the worth of the canvas we carry and continue to add onto as we move forward. I never thought to be a teacher until I realized that the canvas I have carried must be shared. Once that moment came to thought, I knew that an art teacher would be a good thing for me. I want to show my students that to create art, you must also create yourself. I hope to influence my students if not to be an amazing artist, to be an amazing human being.…
