How My Thinking was in Alignment
Aligning my professional thoughts as an educator regarding the schools I visited. It was very different from what I use to work versus the public-school system. These schools are private not connected with the school district. They do have licenses from the Department of Education to teach and have certified teachers as well.
As I was thinking to myself regarding the schools. I would ask these questions: As an educator what do you expect the student to know? How do you make connections to the FL Core Standards? What things do you routinely do to extend your content knowledge in the subject/subjects you teach? What extra steps to you take? Define the procedure you use as you plan your daily lessons. What approaches do you use to check students’ prior knowledge and possible misconceptions as you begin the study of a new concept? Do you ask open and ended questions after the lesson or before? How do you familiarize instruction for those students who need extra time and alternative strategies to master a

It’s been two years since I stepped out of a classroom and taught. I will address similar issues that I did have in my own classroom back then by comparing it with Ms. Daniele’s class and work. When I was teaching kindergarten, I was more like Ms. Daniele in her teachings. I always use tons of hands-on material, lots of visuals and spoke constantly by using lots of language. I felt I had a positive climate all year round with my students and parents.
Using technology was my major thing when I was teaching writing, math, reading, and visual concepts to my students. Comparing Ms. Daniele’s work with mine back then it was very comparable. We both have the same goals about children and almost the same philosophy about education. When I first meet her, she reminded me a lot of myself because of the interactions she has with

When asked the question, “What do you believe,” I sit here and try to think about what I actually believe in. In my head I’m like, Well I believe in things like Jesus and God, always do your best, and treating people with respect, but those are all things most people believe in. I grew up being taught that this is what my family believes in, but this doesn’t really show what I believe in, it shows what I grew up learning. So what do I believe in?…

How do you respond to the “nay sayers” who content that the distance learning cannot possibly compete with the classroom and students will either do much worse (because they do have an instructor to guide and lead them) or much better (since the coursewill be too easy and/or have little or no accountability when it comes to assessment).…

I always regretted not asking more questions. It is normal to have doubt and questions, despite what some people may say, and I always wish I had expressed that more. Although, who knows where I would be if I had. Would I have found the right answers, rooted my faith in God, and not even be in this class because I chose to take Campus Ministry? Would I have gotten in trouble for “being disruptive” by asking the questions that do not really have answers?…

Where Did I Go Wrong Have you ever had a miscommunication with someone close to you simply because you assumed they understood you? If that question was asked of anyone, the answer would very well be, yes, I have. It happens to the best of us and sometimes on a daily basis. As stated in the article from U.S. News and World Report’s called “Close Relationships Sometimes Mask Poor Communication”, it stated “For many people, their communication skills with loved ones are not as strong as they may think.” (U.S. News and World Report, 2011)…

Mistakes are the perfect opportunity to learn and grow. When I was 9, I started my first business selling freezes. I budgeted for the expense of buying the freezes and sold them for $1 each to ensure I made a profit. Now, I could have used the profits from my successful business to invest in some reliable mutual or index funds and earned interest on my earnings. This would have allowed me to make money on my money and accumulate more wealth over time.…

The most recent conflict which I was involved in, is when I started college at the University of South Carolina Salkehatchie. I majored in Education to become a teacher, knowing teaching wasn’t what I really wanted to do. I went because it was what my mother’s wanted me to do. I was torn between teaching and the medical field. Teaching seemed easier than going into the medical field, and my mother didn’t want me to struggle in the medical field like she did to get her degree.…

My blind spots in terms of people that I might be leaving out and the opportunities I might be missing are with people who are generally quiet and don’t talk much, also with people who talk a lot. I don’t talk to people I don’t know that well because it’s like what is there to talk about? It’s kinda awkward at first because sometimes there is simply nothing to say. Now I realize that I could be missing out on some interesting people, but when you try to talk to someone and they give you short answers and don’t seem interested in talking to you then why should you try? Another blind spot I have is fear because I feel like if I talk to certain people they are gonna be like why is she talking to me?!…

Teaching Philosophy Over the course of seven years in the field instructional development, I have taught undergraduate student and professional courses of aviation and obtained their feedback to improve my teaching methodology. I also undertook revision of undergraduate syllabus based on inputs from various agencies. During this process I have learnt that teaching is learning from multiple perspective and while teaching the central focus should be student learning. Hence, I have evolved my teaching philosophy based on four aspects: interactively teaching, creative thinking, providing resources used for teaching and supporting a wide diversity of students.…

Outcome 6 As an educator and a builder of community, it is very important not to get stuck in a “rut” of sorts when it comes to teaching and teaching practices. Oftentimes, in anything that we do, we fall into a routine the same tools and strategies we are comfortable with. This is fine in some cases, but it is important to make sure that we reuse only the tools and strategies that are still effective and not outdated. Education is an ever-evolving field that requires adaptation and change.…
