Going to college has always been something I looked forward to going to and something that I had to do. Since I am the first generation of my family to attend college straight after high school, my parents made it very clear to me that I had to go. Also because I am the oldest of my siblings, I would have to set an example so that they can do the same and therefore follow in my footsteps. My parents will constantly tell me how college is extremely important and how getting a degree will make life easier. That’s because without making good money in this world it will be very difficult to live a decent life without struggles. My dad was born in Peru, he came to the United States around his early twenties and didn’t know any english. He worked all his life to make a living and will make enough to send money to his family in Peru. After awhile he got married to my mother and worked two full times. I saw how hard my dad worked and how many sacrifices he has made for my siblings and I and as well as for my mother. That is one of the main reasons why I would want to make him proud and graduate college with a nursing degree. I’ve always wanted to become a nurse for as long as I can remember. On the other hand, my mother was born in the United States and grew up in Paterson, New Jersey, she attended high school here as well and did really well in school.
