The biggest connection I made with the texts is the importance of support and guidance during middle school. I arrived in America two month prior to starting middle school. Not being able to speak English influenced my performance dramatically. What I had not realized till I read these texts was the immense support I received in middle school. I attended a private school that my family could not afford through scholarships and a huge anonymous contribution. The Oaks Academy the middle school I attended to nurtured my need for education.
