Task 1b. Describe the instruments and methods used to measure the factors in part ‘a’

Thermal
To measure the activity level we could use sensors to measure the activity and movement around the room. Using your smartphone’s range of sensors like the GPS, WIFI or even apps which will have heat sensors built in, you can automatically monitor your movements, location, and workouts throughout the day.
To measure the air temperature within the building you could place thermometers randomly around the room in different kinds of places and then get the average for the room to get an accurate reading. The tube is marked with a scale, in degrees Fahrenheit or in degrees Celsius. To find Fahrenheit we roughly double the degrees and add 30 to find the Fahrenheit. Temperature is also measured in Kelvin. When you are measuring the air temperature, be sure to have the thermometer in the shade. If the sun shines on the thermometer, it heats the liquid.
To measure air movement you can use a Rotating Vane Anemometer. ‘It accurately measures air velocity and temperature, calculates flow rate, performs averaging, and can determine minimum and maximum readings. Using sweep mode you can quickly provide one averaged reading of velocity or volume over a large measurement area. The large vane head automatically averages velocity and volume readings’. http://www.tsi.com/velocicalc-rotating-vane-anemometer-5725/ddf ‘The mean radiant temperature (MRT) is defined as the uniform temperature of an…
