With the continuation of change in Australian health care context, it has been more vivid that registered nurses have emerged at the frontline in taking responsibility for the maintenance of inter professional collaboration and effective communication. In today’s health care context, inter professional teamwork and communication skill is considered the valuable asset, an extremely essential element of a healthy workplace and a basic requirement for the patient.

According to ANMC, Competency 10 of the National Competency Standards for the Registered Nurse it states that a registered nurse can promote effective inter professional teamwork by recognizing that the membership and roles of the health care teams vary. For instance, a registered nurse is responsible for the observation of patient and performing hygenic measures of the patient . It is her prime responsibility to communicate nursing assessments and decisions to the inter professional team. Besides that, a registered nurse is accountable for facilitating the coordination of care to meet the identified goals and collaboration with the health care team to inform policy and guideline
