The concepts of interprofessional collaboration were made to help us all work together through associations to solve compound health complications. Significant ideas with the relationships, that nurses use every day, include sharing information or education, working together in partnerships, authority (who is in charge?), and being able to be accountable independently or in a group. They also utilize the diversity in the patient population and professional people that we work with. We use dignity when working with patients, no matter their age, nationality, population, religion, or education, while valuing confidentiality. We find a way to use each member of the team to work at our greatest effectiveness using trust, honesty, and professionalism to produce a higher standard of care for the patient (Panel, 2011). An example of this idea would be caring for a patient who is a different religion, that does not accept the use of blood products. I came from a unit where there was no teamwork amongst different professions, and I now realize that the patients did not always receive the best care they could have. I am a nurse, but now work very closely with the social worker, dietician, physician assistant, and physicians every day. I also am in contact with the patient primary care givers often. We have care conferences for the patients, where all of the team gets together and discusses whatever the patient feels appropriate at that time, and works together to help them solve their problems. This is an amazing time to work together to understand the patients’ needs
