I feel that I have an advanced level of communication and relationship management. After over 25 years as a physician I believe, I have a very good bedside manner and have excellent patient raport (as confirmed by my patients). These are the field marshalls, we get things done. Sometimes we can run over people in the process, but through years of experience, I have learned to listen and work more collaboratively with others. As Hage (2009) point out, Personality typing ”tries to help us better understand ourselves, make us aware of what motivates us, allow us to recognize our natural strengths, and permit us to realize our potential for growth”. Also working in youth work has shown me the importance of servant leadership and I am not afraid to lead by example. I have more practical clinical knowledge than most administrators. As medical director, this allows me to bridge the gap between the two. I do however, at times feel myself lacking with regard to my knowledge of healthcare management. That is why I am taking this masters program. It has been helpful to gain a broader knowledge base and a deeper understand of healthcare management to add to my existing prior knowledge. I definitely have improved in this area since beginning this program 2 years ago. I would rate myself as
