My most special patient interaction I have had was helping a patient who hasn't been able to walk due to a progressing disability; she took her first steps in years. The patient was overjoyed by her accomplishment, while the therapist and I were in shock by what we had just seen. The reaction of the patient truly embodied the vision that movement optimizes the human experience. As a physical therapist I would bring this same passion for every patient, every time. As a physical therapist I would want to always continue to get better in order to make a direct impact to the patient's success and progression to contributing to society.
In order to embody the APTA's vision for physical therapy, you must first understand how mobilization affects the human experience and society. The human experience relies on being able to go out and contribute to society. As a therapist I would embody this vision with every patient, every time.
