On January 27, 1972 the Magnavox Odyssey became the first official home video game system around the world. Unfortunately, due to poor advertising the Magnavox Odyssey, only three years after it was initially released was dismissed. Fortunately, that same year Atari released a game called Pong that was an automatic hit when it was placed in arcades and pubs. Thanks to its massive success, Atari decided to release a home version of the ping-pong like game. Videos games reached a “golden age” in October of 1977 when a video game system that was programmable was released by Atari that had more than 200 possible games for the system. In 1980, the Mattel Intellivision was launched that had better graphics and a larger microprocessor.
Video games today offer a more assorted selection allowing people to play games that appeal to themselves rather than the vast majority.
