The Evolution Of Video Games

Why have video games become a big success? Back in the early 1900s, people didn’t have video games, they had simple games such as checker and chess. These two games are still widely played, but when computers and televisions started becoming a normal necessity, virtual games became more apparent. The concept of video games started with the first computer game. This game was a version of tic-tac-toe, created in 1952 by A.S. Douglas, a Cambridge university doctoral student (Hile) This simple, but groundbreaking game paved the way for new technological advancements in the field of games.

When Google hangouts came out in 2011, it had been praised as one of the most seamless, easy to use video chat services ever (Henry). Although video has been used for gaming purposes, people mostly use it just for connection purposes similar to telephone calls. This may be one of the main reasons why video chatting hasn’t been the top means of communicating during games.
Messaging can also be used as a means of communication while playing video games. An individual may send and receive messages with friends and people that they have recently played a game with. They can also log onto online message boards to chat. In 2008, the Pew Study found that gamers were more civically active than non-gaming and were more likely to take part in outside experiences such as commenting on these internet message boards (Positive Effects). This messaging, in all forms, allows adolescents to express themselves and work together towards one
