The concept that created video game consoles was based out of an idea. As technology continues to grow, it will always contain the origin of where the idea came from. For most people, they would think that Pong was the first video game that was invented. However, before Pong, there was the pinball. The creator David Gottlieb who made “Baffle ball” gave an inspiration to the evolution of video game. (Kent 2) Baffle Ball was similar to pinball because it is basically the same concept. The only difference was that the player was required to keep track of their score. As of today, with the help of modern technology, the score will be counted automatically. When Pong was created, only a few shapes and colors were used for the game. (Wolf 239) The quality of the graphic used discrete pixels which sets two restrictions. The two restrictions are: display capabilities and processing capabilities. By having these two restrictions, graphic in video games were only capable of displaying minimum quality. However, as video games grow, the development of many genres such as adventure would focus on characters. This would mean that creators of video game would have to having better graphics when doing close-ups of a character. (Wolf 241) Furthermore, video games take into consideration the cinematography of the games. Since the cinematography took more space as a file on a CD-ROM, the sequence that was inputted in the game was cut short. It was not enough to make the graphic higher quality through the whole process. (Wolf 243-244) However, 3-D game was considered a way to develop virtual reality.
