When the weight of an individual is greater than what’s considered to be healthy for their given height is exceeded, and then they are labeled as obese. The ranges of weight also have been able to show the increase and likelihood of other diseases and health care problems. “About one third of the United States adults are obese and approximately 17% of children and adolescents between ages two and 19 are obese” (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2010). Some people thing of obesity as a disease, and as with any disease there are some illness that may come along with and cause obesity. Depression can be a cause of obesity as well as a side effect. One may become depressed and turn to eating to make themselves feel better. Hypothyroidism causes the metabolism to slow down in the body (WebMd, 2005-2011).
Obesit affects the body in many different ways. Having excess fat on the body could possibly lead to an increase of oxygen in your body. The body could begin to resist against insulin, fatty build up within the arteries, possibly block the airway (Mayoclinic, 2011). Some health problems that may come along with obesity are high cholesterol and triglycerides, type II diabetes and high blood pressure. Stroke, heart attacks, and fertility problems are amonst disease that can be threating to one in serious way. Simply getting to know how your body works how it burns calories the best can help with keeping off the calories and staying fit. If obesity is in the history of the family, simple observation of how the family eats as well as taking control of what you eat and how much could help lower your chances of obesity. Some time indivuduals may have a hard time controlling their intake of food or may already be suffering from obese. The indiiduals who are already suffering may take longer or have a harder time
