Procrastination is such a fickle disease, and I’m currently suffering from it. I can’t stand writing papers! Not only am I terrible at it but I wait for the very last minute to write the entire paper. Since I procrastinate, I end up straying away from the topic of the assignments given to me. I need to manage my time more efficiently to better my writing skills by outlining, starting the assignment ahead of time, and enhancing my transitions. Hopefully, I can follow through with the solutions I’ve set up for myself.
My ability to write papers in high school was mediocre at best and no one told me. I left that place receiving A’s and B’s on my writing assignments, that I always did the night before. How is it even possible that after four years

A technique taught to me in highschool but was never put to use and just now has been reiterated by the person mentioned in the previous paragraphs Mrs. Moebs. This has shown to be a successful tip when trying to do research and enhancing transition sentences. As said by smart-words.org “transition words are essential, since they not only connect ideas, but also can introduce a certain shift, contrast or opposition, emphasis or agreement, purpose, result or conclusion”. Provided you put things in order the easier it is to follow along as the reader. In addition, writer Jesse Lopez from The Collegian magazine has said “if it’s a good outline, writers can simply flesh it out to make the first draft.” Also when researching for the outline it is best to use article research databases given it is the databases only purpose is to provide you with material over your topic.
The utmost important component to a better paper has to be starting the paper ahead of time to prepare for the arrangement of the outline and make room later for editing. Starting the paper ahead of time is easier said than done but will save you in the end when all you have to worry about is editing. Setting time aside to begin the horrendous process writing, will help lessen the stress of the paper’s due date. Allowing yourself to have time ahead to be creative when brainstorming on how to connect all of your evidence and examples, ensuring for a better paper according to Mrs.

Sometimes you are assigned to read articles for homework and they actually turn out to be helpful for you. Thats exactly what happened to me when I was assigned to read “Shitty First Drafts” by Anne Lamott, which caught my attention from its title. I wondered why is it called “shitty.” Anne Lamott explained how important it is to write shitty drafts before your writing becomes better. I thought to myself, I usually get B’s and C’s on my essays and Lamott says to become a good writer you must write shitty drafts first then why don 't I do that?…

In regards to my writing process, there have been some central strategies that I have developed over time and some strategies that I have had for as long as I can remember. For example, one skill that I have developed from high school has been to annotate, mark up, and take notes throughout my readings. I found that taking notes really helps me, not only to remember what I read but to go back and be able to point out something in my reading easily. In addition, it helped me understand the readings better.…

As an inexperienced writer, I often find myself looking at a blank page on my computer and wondering what my point is and how I will be able to express it. Sometimes it’s hard to explain your thoughts to others if they are not clear in your mind either. Therefore, I know that I can’t sit and write if I don’t have an outline, a map in which my thoughts follow a logical path. By using an outline, I can organize my ideas and make sure that the good ones don’t suddenly disappear in the abyss of my…

As a result, I end up having to choose between them as to what assignment I have enough time to do. That school year was one of the hardest for me. I was able to stay on track and handle my workload by writing down everything I had to do. To-do lists were very helpful for me…

Throughout the semester of English Composition I, I learned any new things. Over the past few months I have learned many new tips on how to create a good paper. Prior I had little experience with formulating research type papers. I was able to learn about credible sources and I was able to learn how to use the library’s online database which was supportive for my papers. Even the books proved to be valuable resources, especially the Norton Field Guide. This particular book taught me how to properly analyze a text and it provided a series of steps that makes understanding a passage much simpler. In fact, I even wrote out the steps in a summarizing format for future reference, and I’m certain I will make use of them.…

Life is an everlasting journey of growth and development. In order to grow we must first admit to our faults, and stop engaging in behaviors that hinder us from becoming a better version of ourselves. Self- destructive tendencies plagues our society, and it’s easy to become discouraged by the hate and malicious behaviors inflicted on civilians from law enforcement officers. The mass media only covers half of the story, and the likelihood of the story being the truth, is slim to none. Ever since I could remember, I have always had a passion for helping others.…

There are many viable solutions for this annoying problem that we all face. First thing we can do is make a schedule. Knowing when your assignments are due, really lets you see how much time it will take to complete it and if you can do it in one sitting. And if it 's not possible to complete in one day, then break it up into individual sessions. If you have a really long paper that is due next week, due a little bit each day and that way it won 't seem as long or stressful.…
