The seven essential key elements are, title, thesis, introduction and conclusion paragraphs, organization, diction and tone, unity and coherence, and effective sentences. “The Extended School Day,” by Harriet Davids claims that elementary schools should be open longer then they are now for kids to be safe. A proper organization in an essay is to order the points so that the reading is clearly accomplished. The academic organization should be logical. However, the organization of Davids essay did not apply any of these functions. Her organization style is weak and unorganized. The points Davids used were unclear and all over the place, she jumped from one thing to another. For example, she went from talking about the advantages of extending school days to talking about the disadvantages of hiring a home sitter. Her essay is not at a steady pace. For example, she talks about the children’s safety, their parent’s worries, children disliking school, the benefits the children and their parents and teachers would have, and then jumps back to the dangers and children’s safety. I suggest, a proper way to keep an essay organized is to stick with one point and go into detail with that point, so that the reader is on track and not confused. An effective organized essay smoothly guides the reader through a clearly understood
