My writing skill has provided and developed compared to my writing in the freshman year at the UD. At the freshman year, my first step to write a paper was brainstorming before I read, and write without an outline. In regards to my writing process, there have been some central strategies that I have developed over time and some strategies that I have had for as long as I can remember. For example, one skill that I have developed from high school has been to annotate, mark up, and take notes throughout my readings. I found that taking notes really helps me, not only to remember what I read but to go back and be able to point out something in my reading easily. In addition, it helped me understand the readings better.…

My writing experience: I didn’t start to read until I was in first grade. Every week we would go to library to check-out two books and take a test on the books we read on a computer. Every day in English we read a short story to ourselves then we would play games dealing with the story to make it fun. To be honest I never really did a lot of writing in Elementary , Middle, or High school so I can’t pinpoint when I started writing. In essay writing I learned its always good to express yourself with your own opinion.…

Whenever I had a question about the writing process or structure I would look it up in this book before I asked my professor. Before I started planning my final research paper I began with a fast write. My Segue professor taught me this strategy so that I could write down all my thoughts on a given prompt. After this step I was able to plan an outline and eventually craft a draft before writing my final paper. This experience taught me a valuable lesson because I felt confidant when I turned it in for a…

Throughout the semester of English Composition I, I learned any new things. Over the past few months I have learned many new tips on how to create a good paper. In reading "Ten ways to think about writing" I learned of many new tactics and ideas to use when I approach writing a paper and or article. I learned first that it is very helpful to write about something you know a lot about. In doing so you can fill up your paper with facts and statistical information right off the bat and you also will be much more interested in writing and it will make the "struggle" of writing just disappear. I also learned to give much detail and information in mentioning things whether they be major or minor. Instead of mentioning a green bouncy ball I could mention about the dark green ball that bounces as high as the stars.…

If I was writing a paper that required a specific number of paragraphs or pages I would typically plan my paper using the four square method. If I was writing an important paper I would write a rough draft, then as I was typing it I would revise it and fix any mistakes I found. One thing that remained consistent in my writing process, no matter the type of paper, is after I wrote the paper I would try to find more grade level appropriate words instead of the simple words I originally used. While writing essays for this class I came to find it is better to combine my writing processes to write the best possible essay I could. I found the best steps for me to take in writing my paper are to write my ideas down in some form.…

The writing process is different and unique to all individuals; many people follow the ideal steps of prewriting, drafting, revising, editing, and publishing as opposed to others taking shortcuts, skipping steps, and going straight to editing. The writing process is the course one takes to get from prewriting to the publication of their essay; since everyone is a different, their writing process will also be different. For me, I believe that following the ideal writing process steps are a tremendous help to organizing my essay and spacing out the work throughout the time the assignment is assigned.
