There are many advantages to including students with disabilities with their peers. One advantage of full inclusion is developing social skills. When students with disabilities are isolated from their peers, they have the tendency to lack social interaction. By being in the presence of others, their age will help them learn how to communicate and interact with their peers (Foust & Wistrom, 2012). Student without disabilities are also learning social acceptance. Those students are learning that everyone is different and how to cope with being around someone that is different from them. It also teaches all students compassion, acceptance, collaboration and patience, life-long skills that will better prepare them for the future (Leatherman & Niemeyer, …show more content…
Excessive behavior problems, could impact the learning environment in the classroom. Teacher would have to consistently interrupt their instructional time to deal with classroom management problems. This could not only affect further delays in those students with disabilities, it will also delay the other students and cause them to fall behind. The teacher will have to communicate her expectations of all students and set the tone of those expectations from the start of the school year. The teacher would also have to make sure they are keeping all students engaged in learning and allow students to move around
