When I first read the “Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire” all I could think about is how many women and men were killed and how many children may have been left behind. I wondered what happened to all the children of this tragic event, nevertheless, these deaths were preventable, but due to neglect safety features and locked doors inside the factory. Therefore, this brought a widespread attention to industrial safety.What is sad about all of this is due to such a terrible tragedy they finally decided to review and change the laws and regulations to better protect the safety of workers. I was pulled out for reading and then again for math. Within this same year I got glasses which in turn helped as well. During my mainstreaming, I was hardly ever in my classroom and had a hard time socially as well. Then in high school, I went through the “integration” stage, I would go to the first few minutes of my classes and then go to the learning resource room for the rest of the time where my teacher would help me with the work and sometimes unfortunately my teacher would do it for me. I truly believe now since I have been a teacher and now becoming a special education teacher, I might not have been identified if some of these interventions would have been in place. Now, we speak of inclusion within our schools and I have to say I totally agree with it, especially those students like myself who just needed a little boost with my learning. Natural environments as well is wonderful it allows students to feel comfortable in their surrounds, this should have been used from the very beginning especially with the infants and toddlers. Then the least restrictive environments are placing children of all abilities in one classroom, With this I see pros and cons, Pros would be for both the non disabilities, student to be exposed to all types of children and with the children with disabilities to have regular students …show more content…
These screenings can be hearing, vision and many others, they are a big part of our building. We have been using the ASQ-3 and the ASQ-SE as well as the Dial-4, but the Dial is not detecting our 3 year olds, but with the 4 year olds, it does an adequate job. As a team within our building, we are starting to look at other screenings. In the book, it talks about how the screening is now more cost effective than they were and there are many factors to which screener 's would be the best. After we screen our children, then we start evaluations ones in which we see flags and we use the Bracken and the APES. Evaluations are a very important part of identifying students who may need extra services to be successful in
