Honor code essay
Colleges and Universities have honor codes on campus that minimize students’ cheating off other people. Despite the fact that honor codes may not work well with some students, but they do work on the majority of the students who want a peaceful environment to learn and acquire an education. This Illustrates that Victor Valley High School needs to form a honor code so it can improve the integrity among students, it can also makes students develop a peer culture for academics and it is a way to prepare and make college a bit straightforward for students.
First reason Victor Valley needs to establish a honor code is in order to create moral values and responsibility in students which will cause the students to construct a good character. For example in “The Honor Code Vote” by Vangelli, displays that “signing a pledge of honor” will places moral values on to students which will not make them turn their backs on it because if they cheat they will feel the guilt that this is not their work but someone else's (source B). This idea is shown through “New Honor Codes for a New Generation” by McCabe which shows students getting involved in a developing community makes them stop cheating and plagiarizing (source F). This reinforces the idea that Victor should develop a honor code for its student because then it could encourages students to form a community on academic dishonesty which would prevent students from not copying from other because if they were catch they would be laugh at for being the only one to cheat. Additionally this prevents others of considering that they can not cheat because they will be around a community of peers that are not interested in dishonesty and might not allow them to
