1. How did you decide what to teach?
My partner and I decided what we were going to teach by talking about subjects we understand in either of our study areas, so Annie told me what she knows about biology and I told here what I know about english. We came to a conclusion that it would be best to teach about the parts of speech because it was something we both understood very well and it would fit the time scale of our lesson. For starters, I was actually pretty nervous that most people in the room knew more about the parts of speech than I did, so I was scared to accidently present something incorrectly. However, I was able to get past this by not only teaching about parts of speech, but more about meaningful ways to study and learn them. This gave me more confidence because I feel very good about my study techniques and abilities, and I enjoyed getting to share some of these tips with my fellow students. Additionally, I found it very challenging to create the lesson plan. I never really understood all the different things teachers take into account when creating a lesson, so I felt like I was being very thorough when I actually probably should have included more about what I was going to say to be better prepared to present. I think this is especially important for me because I start speaking really fast when I am in front of people, so a good way to calm me down would be to have a detailed lesson plan including everything I want to say about the topics.
