For my informative speech, I talked about softball. I discussed the importance of gloves, finding the right bat, and the three important things when it comes to swinging the bat. I feel like my speech went pretty well. It could have been better due to the fact that when I presented I had not practiced my speech at all. I had just written out my speech on my notecards that morning before school. I also finished writing my conclusion on my outline during band that day, which is the period right before English. The week when presentations started, I was gone due to an FFA trip that I was signed up for. I was gone for two days, but it was two days that people presented their speeches. My first idea was a book, but I found out that five other people were …show more content…
I even had to finish writing my speech. I did not write as much in class because I was unsure of where I was going with my speech. I was prepared to present on Thursday, but we ended up having camera trouble, and we did not get to me. I could not go on Friday due to choir practice. I then had the whole weekend to prepare and to polish up my speech. I was really confident and prepared when I started to give my speech. I know that if you go first you do not have many examples, but I like to see what other people did, and I also would have liked a few more examples to go off of. I was about seventh on the list on the Tuesday that I presented. To be honest, I did not think that I would have had to go. There were three people sick, and there were two people not ready so that made me second. It was helpful that I had written out my notecards. I also knew most of the stuff I was talking about so it was not hard for me to make eye contact with people once I got started. I am always going to get nervous for speeches so whenever I get started, I may rush a little, or not seem as confident when I

I clearly passed messages on what I am going to inform audiences i.e. set speech purpose, and separated speech major parts developing main points. I also attempted engagement with audiences by asking questions to make them feel they are articulated in the conversation/discussion as the vital component. All of these things are my strengths. Certainly, these aren’t enough strengths to make a speech the best. Reviewing self-presented video going through it a few times, I found out supporting materials were missing, sub-points were not clearly mentioned, and proper transitions were not made to maintain the chronological flow of information.…

For Week 5, as the one who presented, I will reflect on the presentation from the preparation, presentation and Q&A part. But I will focus on the Q&A part and analyze this experience in detail. I did not choose the topic of presentation until 4 days before it, which turned out that most interesting topics had already been chosen by my classmates. Though time was limited for me to prepare for the presentation, I felt calm and prepared my presentation in an organized way. To evaluate the preparation, the powerpoint could have been elaborated in a better way and more detailed information could have been included if I had started on the preparation early.…

After finishing the English 101 course I feel like I have accomplished many of the goals that I was challenged with the beginning of the course, such as critically thinking and reading with text from the textbook “Dialogues” by Gary Goshgarian, substantively replying to my peers to understand their point of views from the text and to get a better understanding of a rhetorical argument. Thinking and reading critically were very important this whole course. Thinking and reading critically were something you would have to do in every assignment that was given. Incorporating it in every assignment has helped us greatly improve week by week and betters our understanding of each topic and the assignments main idea.…

A great corporation failing because they don’t have enough volunteers that are properly equipped with the knowledge, to teach kids great life skills. FFA struggles to keep their organization in many schools because they don’t have enough staff. Teachers must have proper degrees in agricultural education to teach in FFA. Incorporating FFA into more schools around the country, is a wise choice considering the things that are given back from FFA. We get leaders, agriculturally educated students, and career readiness that young students need more than anything.…

Everyone hates English class is what I thought before taking English 102. However, that may have been the case before I entered Dr. Byrd’s domain, but after finishing the class I have come to the realization that English class can be greatly resourceful. English 102 this year has had its ups and downs, and I must admit the ups outweigh the downs. Meaning, this year, I have learned that I am not a student who wants to read or write, but through reading and writing my mind and skill sets concerning English have grown. During English 102 this year, reading and writing in class helped me expand my writing skills, improved my will to comprehend, and most importantly helped expand my knowledge.…

You are in class one day when the teacher announces a new assignment: students are to research and give an informative speech about any topic of their choosing. As the student, imagine that you are terrified to not only present the speech in front of your entire class, but to have to go through the process of picking a topic, researching it, organizing your speech, and practicing it as well. At the beginning of my communication class, this was how I felt about producing and giving speeches. I was nervous to talk in front of the class because I have always been very shy and have suffered from extreme speech apprehension. I also dreaded picking a topic and organizing my speeches as well, since I could never make up my mind and I was never good…

Throughout the year, as a class we have been given many different challenges in either the form of an essay, speech, or group presentation. The final assignment given to us was a group project presentation. From growing up in an age filled with technology, I have come to love projects that revolve around making some form of a PowerPoint presentation. This PowerPoint though, was both difficult and interesting for the reasons of being assigned group members not of my own choosing, learning to listen to others ideas which can help me to learn something new, and using former knowledge while working together to create a clean, in depth, and well prepared presentation. With working in groups of students whom I have known since I was young but…

I remember being terrified to go up because I knew that they were going to ask me questions at the end of my presentation. Luckily, I was able to pull through and answer the questions. My presentation was probably like ten minutes and that definitely helped me grow as a speaker because I am not scared to put my opinion out anymore, I also feel that I will not get as nervous if I ever present again. But I am proud of myself because last year I never really participate and I feel that this year I participated more than last year, since I was not as shy. Also I know many students did not enjoy them…
